Presidential Passions: The Love Affairs of America's Presidents: From Washington and Jefferson to Kennedy and Johnson
Published in Hardcover by SPI Books (April, 1991)
Author: Michael John Sullivan
Average review score:

Scandalous!
Glimpses into the private lives of some of the Presidents of the USA, and their love affairs...not quite up to date, but still not a bad book. A sort-of combination of history and scandal.

Sadat: The Man Who Changed Mid-East History
Published in Library Binding by Walker & Co Library (November, 1981)
Author: George Sullivan
Average review score:

How this Egyptian leader changed the Middle East.
This is a breezy and glossy review of the life of Anwar Sadat.
Unfortunately, it was written prior to his murder, so there is not much critical information of this leader. At a little over 100 pages, it does not go into great detail on his life. That said, it does tell the history of Sadat from his humble peasant beginnings to the Egyptian Presidency.
I mention that the book is not as critical as it could be since Sadat did engage in guerrilla (terrorist) activity against Farouk's government and the British military. Sadat was in a group that planned assassinations. So I believe the book does not give a critical view of his early life. However, the later part of the book gives us the image of Sadat going against the flow and making peace with Israel. At that point, the book ends. As we know, Sadat was himself assassinated...

Sair Linux and GNU Certification(r) Level II, Apache and Web Servers
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (11 September, 2001)
Authors: Cary Sullivan, Sair Development Team, and Tobin Maginnis
Average review score:

Good information, very poorly edited
If you've had very little experience with Apache web servers, you may have some trouble following the book. If you feel pretty confident administrating Apache then you might find the information pretty useful in preparing for the exam. Overall, the information is good but this book is terribly edited, if edited at all. I've noticed subheadings presented before the relevant paragraphs began, incorrect spacing when presenting directory names and commands, a few misspellings and a rather scattered train of thought. It is very apparent that several authors were involved but the editors should have done a much better job bring things together.

My recommendation would be to find someone to borrow this from or check it out of a library. I don't find it useful as a reference, it's simply a study guide for the exam.

Sister of Mercy
Published in Paperback by Ambassador-Emerald, Intl. (September, 1997)
Authors: Wilma Sullivan, Pam Cretion, and Wilma Sulivan
Average review score:

From service to God to knowing Him as Lord and Savior
This book is quite short but sents out a simple message. It is the story of one, who by works and her own efforts, thought she could serve God but finally came into the realty that she could know Him personally. The message is that the Roman Church has failed to convey the gospel message of salvation by faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus. Her struggle is typical of many that have found a personal and real faith in the Word of God - something the Roman (and sadly to say, other) churches fail to emphasis much to the spiritual hungry of many. It will certainly help others in their search for the Truth and meaning.

Teaching English South-East Asia
Published in Paperback by Passport Books (June, 1997)
Authors: Nuala O'Sullivan and Jerry O'Sullivan
Average review score:

At the Foot of the SE Asian Teaching Mountain
A good career book should do two things: stimulate your interest, and give you a push down the path to the goal. Unfortunately, Teaching English in Southeast Asia does only the former, and that not very well. It reads like an almanac, not a hands-on insider's guide. This book will be most useful to absolute newbies to the teaching AND Southeast Asian scenes; those with more familiarity with either area should look elsewhere. If you need to know the area code of your destination or want guidance on which TEFL course to take, buy this book. Otherwise, look to one of the growing number of other published sources of information on schools, teaching techniques and characteristic blunders made by foreign English students. Teaching English in Southeast Asia doesn't have nearly enough specific information. Too bad! This could have been a good chance to add a much needed resource to a badly under-covered subject. Better luck next time

Test Your Own IQ
Published in Paperback by Black Dog & Leventhal Pub (May, 1996)
Authors: Norman Sullivan and Martin Lubin
Average review score:

A better puzzle book than IQ testing book
Unlike some of the other IQ testing books I've seen, this one has some puzzles that are quite challenging and really make you think as well as some easier ones for beginners. In fact, the more challenging puzzles are entertaining and amusing and it makes the book worth the buy. On the other hand, the IQ score should not be taken seriously. The IQ scoring itself is arbitrary and it doesn't really say how the test was normed except the book keeps mentioning about volunteers who found such and such an item particularily easy or difficult. I would presume then that they use the scores of the volunteers to generate some kind of IQ bell curve from which can be used to generate your IQ score. The problem with this is that these are volunteers and the people who are going to volunteer to do such puzzles are probably more intelligent than average anyway which means that your IQ will probably be underestimated. For instance, I qualify for Mensa, but based on the test in this book, my IQ is a disappointingly low 108! The book attempts to sort puzzles by difficulty level but does not always do a good job. The elementary level does have some no-brainers but also includes puzzles that would be more appropriate for the challenging level. Conversely, some of the puzzles in the harder levels, are really elementary. A lot of the puzzles require knowledge of obscure trivia to solve, penalizing those who have may have good reasoning powers but are not walking encyclopedias. In short, Test Your IQ Skills makes for a good puzzle book but not as a good IQ testing book

Timewankers (Eros Graphic Album Series No. 13)
Published in Paperback by Fantagraphics Books (December, 1997)
Author: Stephen Sullivan
Average review score:

Great Plot, but mediocre graphics
The plot is great. The idea of anthropologists being able to teleport to the society they want to investigate is great. Each episode is very erotic and is very close to what the cililization in question was probably like at the time. However the graphics themselves leave a lot to be desired. These episodes would have taken a completely different perspective had they been rendered by Belore or Serpeiri.

The Utopian Vision Seven Essays on the Quincentennial of Sir Thomas More

Not all that fun
I was in Western Michigan University's Waldo Library to find material on several books that dealt with the utopian/dystopian ideals. This was something I found. It was okay, but I wouldn't read it for fun.

The Irish Bed & Breakfast Book: Country and Tourist Homes, Farms, Guesthouses, Inns (Irish Bed & Breakfast Book, 3rd)
Published in Paperback by Pelican Pub Co (March, 1998)
Authors: Frank Sullivan and Fran Sullivan
Average review score:

Lacking in content
I was very dissappointed in this book as a guide for where to stay on our trip to Ireland. It was a huge waste of money. My husband and I were in Ireland for 2 weeks total. We rented a car and traveled from Dublin south along the coast then westward then north along the west coast. We didn't make any reservations ahead of time anywhere; which turned out to be OK. We referred to this book a couple of times when it came time to find a bed and breakfast but we found that it was very limited. For instance it listed about 4 establishments in Waterford when it turned out there were about 40. We got better use out of the free bed and breakfast guides we got through the Ireland Tourism offices.

The BEST!
We were in Ireland for 6 weeks and although there are many other Bed & Breakfasts throughout Ireland, this book lists the best ones. Every Bed & Breakfast from this book turned out to be wonderful!

Taylor's review
We used the third edition of The Irish Bed & Breakfast Book during our three week tour of Ireland in 1998. We found that the book, while only listing two or three B&Bs in a city, listed the better establishments. Whenenver we used the book as a guide we were always satisfied with our lodgings. Whenever we did not we were unhappy with the lodgings.

The seven places we visited from the book were always clean, comfortable, served good food and were pleasant to visit.

We will be visiting Ireland again in July 2002 and intend to purchase the fourth edition.

College Algebra
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall College Div (August, 2000)
Author: Sullivan
Average review score:

I cannot believe how much I paid for this book!
Sullivan's "College Algebra" is a mish-mash of material, very little of which has any relevance to the questions at the end of each section. I am extremely upset that my university changed to this text, as it is vastly inferior to our previous book. There are no examples of key points that are needed to complete homework. What explanations that are available are hard to decipher, much less understand. This text should not be allowed to be used in any classroom, college or high school.

A good start...
This book covers algebra very well. It is a simple, easy to understand text that most students seem to be able to grasp. It's main attribute is that it treats college algebra simply and does not scare students away. This book is also a good place to start if you are attempting to self teach.

awesome service
order was not shipped the same day, so seller gave me a discount and I still received the book pretty quick. Great customer service. The book is in mint condition.
